About Backyard Party Kings
The Backyard Kings, known as SF's Best Street Performance Band, started with Harold "Homeboy" Wilson on the bass drum, playing alone on the streets of San Francisco in 2010. By 2016, Harold had built a roster of 30 Bay Area musicians and one female vocalist, Parris Lane. Later that year, they formed a partnership and formed Parold Entertainment Inc.
However, the Backyard Party Kings became not just a regular street band but became part of a conglomerate that included the band performing for fundraisers, private parties, and special events. Included in that roster were a few musicians who played with Miles Davis, James Brown, Pointer Sisters, Natalie Cole, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, and even a semi-finalist American Idol contestant included in that roster. Harold created a haven for those who could not get a gig with other groups because of their age, disability, abilities, etc. Many accomplished musicians come in from the Bay Area and worldwide to sit in. And as Harold embraced the seasoned musicians, they were proud to see they could still perform.
With Parris as his partner, her priority was ensuring that the Backyard Party Kings would be child-friendly to inspire another generation of musicians. Unlike other bands, the Backyard Party Kings musicians also allow adults and children to sit in to sing or play their instruments. For some children, it is their first time touching a real instrument or being in an environment with a live band, and this is why the Backyard Party Kings continue to play on the streets of San Francisco instead of in a club or bar, for they are the future.
The Backyard Party Kings relies on donations from natives and tourists, which have helped many out-of-work musicians pay rent, obtain food for themselves and their families, and obtain transportation.
We love our fans from all over the world.
